Family Life Center’s Mission Statement is: “To Awaken and Inspire the Wonder and Joy of Learning Inherent In All.” Located in Sonoma County, one hour north of San Francisco, Family Life Center is a truly exceptional residential treatment program and private school. Integrating state-of-the-art treatment and educational programs in a nurturing family environment, Family Life Center has achieved a distinctive “learning community.” Services are provided for students ages 12-18 in two separate programs, the Bodega Program for girls, and the Kiva Program for boys. Family Life Center offers a rare opportunity to transform dysfunctional and destructive patterns into positive, self-sustaining values that encourage a healthy, balanced way of life. Educational programs, individual, group and family counseling, psychiatric and psychological evaluations and treatment, expressive arts therapy, a wilderness program, healthy living program, speech and language therapy, and career counseling and job placement are among the comprehensive array of services offered to help students overcome behavioral, emotional and learning obstacles. All of our programs are designed to teach students to integrate and ground important life decisions in core values such as love, joy, compassion, and equanimity. Family Life Center accepts students with a wide variety of emotional, behavioral, and learning difficulties which include: mood disorders and phobias; impulsivity and social adjustment issues; family issues including blended family, neglect, abuse, and adoption related dynamics; learning disabilities and related school issues; serious destructive behaviors; self-harm and victimization issues; drug and alcohol related issues; and oppositional and aggressive behavior. Family Life Center students are proactive participants in their own treatment and education. This requires effort, discipline and honesty. A five-phase program of development reflects each student’s progress toward program graduation. In each phase, students focus on the achievement of clear therapeutic, educational, and vocational objectives; respond to new challenges; assume new responsibilities; and gain greater autonomy. |
