Graydon Manor is dedicated to treating children and adolescents with serious emotional disabilities, while at the same time helping their families. Founded in 1957 by parents of children with special needs, Graydon Manor now provides a growing continuum of programs, including: Psychiatric Residential Services, Therapeutic Day Schooling, and Outpatient Services. We are located in Leesburg, Virginia and have been providing residential services in an open campus setting for over 50 years. The program includes a strong academic component, as well as intensive family therapy. While all youngsters participating in the program have a psychiatric diagnosis, co-occurring issues may include substance abuse or learning disabilities. Graydon Manor began as, and remains, a private nonprofit corporation. We admit females and males ages 10-17, with clinical and behavioral needs appropriate for residential treatment. Students are involved in the full time, on-campus school program, with regular and special education services offered. The rigorous year-round academic program includes all core subjects taught in small classes led by a teacher and classroom counselor. SOL testing is offered as required. Treatment is provided on a seven-day-a-week basis. While the specific treatment program is tailored to a youngster’s special needs, the core program includes individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy, all provided by licensed mental health professionals. Evidence-based treatment modalities are considered in designing each program. A Treatment Team is assigned to each child, consisting of a Psychiatrist, Individual Therapist, Team Nurse, Teacher, Group Life Counselor, Family Therapist and Consultants. Milieu services include recreational therapy and social skills training with anger management and conflict resolution components. Medication management by on-staff psychiatrists, expressive therapies, and substance abuse counseling are available as needed. Twenty-four hour nursing coverage is provided. At Graydon Manor, our history is rich with promising futures. |
