Florence Crittenton's Center for Pregnant and Parenting Teens is a therapeutic residential program for pregnant and/or parenting young women who struggle with multiple personal challenges.
We believe that the birth of a baby offers a unique opportunity for change and growth in the life of a teen mother and her extended family. At Florence Crittenton's Center for Pregnant and Parenting Teens, we support healthy change in a therapeutic environment. Based in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Helena, Montana we offer a nurturing and highly therapeutic environment that transforms lives. Admission to the program is open to young women between the ages of 12-20 who are pregnant and/or parenting and have mental health diagnoses, chemical dependency issues, and other risk factors.
The therapeutic work at the Home is relationship based. Most of the teens in our care have experienced significant loss or trauma causing them to form disorganized attachments in addition to other significant issues. In order for a teen to form a strong attachment with her baby, she must experience a positive, trusting relationship with a caring adult, and address other issues.
Treatment is continuous, happening in the milieu, during group, individual therapy and one on one’s with individual case managers. Our program is based on a whole team approach. The physical and emotional well being for mother and child during pregnancy and parenting are paramount in ensuring a healthy outcome. An individual treatment plan designed to meet the goals for each teen is written upon arrival by our treatment team. The plan incorporates the teen’s treatment, educational, and life goals, and goals for the future of her child. Parenting classes and adoption education are an integral part of each girls plan. |
